Ubisoft Rainbow Six Extraction to Launch on Xbox Game Pass

While this seems to be major news, to begin with, Ubisoft has also talked about Rainbow Six Extraction coming to Xbox Game Pass, which is another major win for Microsoft’s own subscription service.

Ubisoft Rainbow Six Extraction to Launch on Xbox Game Pass

Currently, we are not aware of the entire plan to bring Ubisoft+ to Xbox consoles. Ubisoft was quite vague when it comes to its plans, stating that the service would debut on Xbox “in the future.” As a result, we are not too sure if Ubisoft+ would be available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S or just the latter platforms. However, it seems reasonable for you to assume it’ll be both, given that a lot of the games available via Ubisoft+ were initially created for Xbox One.

Ubisoft+ E3 2019

Ubisoft+ was revealed yesterday at E3 2019 as Uplay+, and it initially launched on PC later in the year. Up until now, Ubisoft has been confined to PC, but it did not launch on Stadia and Amazon Luna in 2020. Ubisoft+ runs $14.99 per month and offers access to a lot of Ubisoft’s libraries, including new games, premium editions, and DLC.

Ubisoft+ on Xbox Game Pass

Ubisoft+ is not the very first subscription service to make it way to Xbox consoles. Obviously, we have an Xbox Game Pass, but Xbox consoles also host EA Play, which is made available via Xbox Game Pass and as a standalone subscription. No indication came today that the Ubisoft+ can be accessed via Xbox Game pass as well, and since it costs $14.99 per month, we should not probably expect it to roll out into Microsoft’s service.

Talking about Xbox Game Pass, Ubisoft also announced today that Rainbow Six Extraction would be a day-one release for the service. Rainbow Six extraction is an upcoming multiplayer PvE game that features 18 operators from previous Rainbow six titles. You get to see some of the operators that would be made available in Rainbow Six Extraction in the video above.

Rainbow Six Siege on Xbox Game Pass

Rainbow Six extraction would be coming to Xbox game pass as the Rainbow Six Siege and is available to console subscribers currently. Today, Ubisoft also announced when the extraction goes live on Xbox Game pass on the 20th of January, Rainbow Six Siege would also be joining the PC version and Xbox Game Pass ultimate.

Netting Rainbow Six Extraction as a day one release seems likely to be a big win for Microsoft because of the franchise’s popularity, but it might actually be a big deal for Ubisoft. Rainbow Six Extraction has been Somewhat cool, so by launching on Xbox Game Pass on day One, Ubisoft could very well pull in a bigger audience than it has with the traditional release.

Verdict

One major question that we are left with after today’s news is whether or not Ubisoft+ will also come to PlayStation 5 and PS4 in the future. While Ubisoft did not announce any plans today, it looks like a no-brainer if Ubisoft decided to bring the service to Xbox anyway. In the future, we would see what Ubisoft announces, but at the moment, look for Rainbow Six Extraction to land on Xbox Game Pass on the 20th of January.
