Ubisoft’s Battle Royale Hyper Scape is Shutting Down. If you happen to be a fan of Ubisoft Hyper Scape, the Battle Royale game that launched in 2020, well there is some bad news for you. Ubisoft recently announced that the game would be shutting down soon.
While that probably would not be coming as a surprise to some current and former players, as stated by SlashGear, they now have confirmation from Ubisoft alongside some concrete shutdown dates. Just as it turns out, all Hyper fans only have some months to play the game right before it shut down for good.

In an update that came to its website today, Ubisoft stated that Hyper Scape would be shutting down in April 2022. “We have made this very difficult decision to bring to an end the development of Hyper Scape and shut down the game starting this April 28th, the blog post explains. “Just as we have set out to create an amazing vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience we are extremely happy for our community for joining us on our journey. We would be taking up some major key learnings from this game into other future products.”
Ubisoft Proceeds is heading on to thank the Hyper Scape community for its “passion and dedication” to the game in its brief statement. This announcement is not shocking in particular, as the battle royale game would ultimately feel more like a flash in the pan rather than a long-lasting hit.
Hyper Scape Updates
Indeed, the writing was already placed on the wall in some regards. If you are looking at the news section on the Hyper Scape website, the last news post right before this announcement was published about nine months ago as of April 2021. That post covered patch notes for the last major update that was revealed in Hyper Scape and, considering the game was less than a year old at that point, The silence from Ubisoft would probably arrive in the months that followed it all.
What went wrong? Probably it was a number factor. While Hyper Scape carried out some intriguing aspects to it, the game came into the battle Royale Space quite late. By the time Ubisoft Launched Hyper Scape in 2020, The giants of the battle Royale Games Fortnite and Apex Legends were already too well established.
It is not just Ubisoft going up against established titans, but it also launches Hyper Scape right into a crowded space. While the Battle Royale Frenzy looks to have gotten calm, there was some time when everyone was trying to launch titles in the genre. Games succeeding in a crowded market like that, are expected to stand out from the competition, and hyper Scape didn’t manage to do that just quite well.

Although the company stated that some aspects of this game would be going live on its future titles, Hyper Scape itself is getting close to the end of the road. Look for the servers of the game to shut down permanently on the 28, or April 2022.
