You can now set custom rules for phone calls with Google Voice. Google Voice is said to now allow you to create rules that will dictate how the service replies to incoming calls from exact contacts. And this is also adding to Google Voice automatically ignoring certain contacts for you.

The verge noted that even though Google Voice already has the feature of call forwarding, the new rules allow you to customize it, even more, you can set up a rule that will forward calls from a contact (or group of contacts) to your linked numbers.

And if you choose not to receive a forwarded call at all, you can create rules that send certain callers directly to the voicemail. In accordance with this choice, you can also allocate contacts to different voicemail greetings and even screen calls from the contacts of your choice.

How do you create these rules? Just go to voice.google.com. (Keeping in mind that you cannot create rules or manage them through the Google Voice mobile apps you are only allowed to view them.)

From the browser-based site, hit “Settings” at the top right corner of the screen (represented by a cog icon). From there, tap on “Calls” and choose “Create a rule.”
