Every year, the Amgen Scholars Program gives hundreds of undergraduates the chance to work on scientific research projects at some of the top universities in the world. Also, established at the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University in the United States in 2006, Europe in 2008, and Japan in 2015, the Amgen Scholars program has since grown to include other top universities in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia.

The program’s goal is to give eight weeks of biomedical research experience in the basic and translational sciences to undergraduate students from various nations (including some from Japan) who are interested in pursuing graduate studies and are dedicated to or contemplating a career in biology or related sciences.

Faculty from the Graduate School of Science, Graduate School of Engineering, Graduate School of Medicine, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, and Institute of Industrial Science will offer research possibilities.

However, it is anticipated that students will have the knowledge and abilities necessary to conduct research by the end of their summer program. Through collaborative activities, the students are also expected to deepen their friendships with others throughout the world. The kids will be better equipped to collaborate in a variety of settings in the future thanks to these experiences.

UTokyo Amgen Scholars Program in Japan 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Here are the eligibility criteria for the UTokyo Amgen Scholars Program in Japan 2025;

  • Candidates must be undergraduate students from bachelor’s degree-granting institutions or colleges, primarily in Asia, in order to apply for the UTokyo internship.
  • By the time the program begins, applicants must have finished at least one year of undergraduate coursework.
  • They must have at least one semester or quarter of study remaining after the program concludes, and they shouldn’t be graduating before it starts.
  • Applicants must have a solid academic record and a desire to pursue a Ph.D. or other research degree in the future.
  • Proficiency in the English language is necessary. Test results are required from non-native English speakers and individuals whose first language is not English. The minimal scores are as follows; 72 on the TOEFL iBT, IELTS: a band score of 5.5 overall, FCE in Cambridge English and the overall TOEIC is 1095 (785 for L&R and 310 for S&W).
