The Young Photographer Award is an educational prize aimed at aspiring photographers who are passionate about documentary photography or photojournalism and wish to build a career in this field. The winner of the competition is granted the valuable opportunity to take part in an immersive Mentorship Programme.
UPPA Young Photographer Award 2024
This program is specifically crafted to provide young photographers with a platform for expanding their knowledge in photography through a boot camp course and the chance to create a documentary photography project under the guidance of a seasoned industry expert. The resulting photographic works from the mentorship experience are then showcased in Kampala.
Prize
- The victorious participant receives a cash prize of UGX 1,000,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to passionate, emerging photographers from Uganda who are between the ages of 21 and 28 and are interested in pursuing a professional career in photography.
- The image size should be 6000px on the longest dimension, and it should be in sRGB, 300 dpi, and jpg format.
- Each photographer is allowed to submit only one proposal. If multiple submissions are received from a single photographer, only the first proposal received will be considered.
How To Apply
Photographers are required to submit the following materials for consideration:
- A motivation letter that introduces yourself and explains why you should be considered for the award and the mentorship program.
