The University of Melbourne is now accepting applications for the Graduate Research Scholarships (Spring 2025 semester). And invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for up to 600 positions for the 2025 semester intake.
The University of Melbourne awards the prestigious Graduate Research Scholarships, valued at $35,000 for each selected candidate. To support exceptional domestic and international students pursuing a graduate research degree at Australia’s leading university.
Benefits
Successful applicants will enjoy a comprehensive financial support package, including:
- Full Tuition Waiver: The scholarship covers up to two years for a Master by Research degree and up to four years for a doctoral degree.
- Generous Stipend: (pro rata, 2024 rate) for up to 2 years for Masters and up to 3.5 years for doctoral candidates. This includes limited paid sick, maternity, and parenting leave.
- Relocation Grant: $2,000 for moving within Australia, or $3,000 for relocating from overseas.
- Health Cover (OSHC): This is applicable for international students requiring a student visa.
Eligibility Requirements
These scholarships are open to the following individuals:
- Candidates (new students) who meet the entry requirements and have submitted an application for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
- Current Students: Those already enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University.
Selection Criteria
Academic Excellence: Evaluated through previous academic achievements.
Research Potential: Assessed based on demonstrated potential in the chosen field of study, including professional experience, refereed publications, and specialist qualifications.

Notification of Outcome
Candidates who are domestic students will receive an offer for the RTP (Fee Offset) as part of their course offer.
They make offers for Graduate Research Scholarships that provide a stipend and fee offset separately but around the same time as course offers.
