The School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham is excited to announce two scholarships provided by DeepMind, available for students who have received either a conditional or unconditional offer for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program at the UK Edgbaston campus.

The University, in partnership with DeepMind, aims to promote inclusivity and diversity within computer science, particularly among underrepresented groups. The MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about AI to pursue a dynamic and fulfilling career.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship available for UK students is worth £34,225 and covers various expenses as follows:

  • UK tuition fees: £11,340
  • Maintenance grant of £18,985 for living costs, distributed in installments throughout the course
  • Funding of up to £2,200 to attend an international conference related to AI and Machine Learning
  • £1,700 allotted for purchasing essential equipment like a suitable laptop.

The International scholarship, valued at £56,525, includes:

  • Covering international tuition fees of £31,410
  • Maintenance grant of £19,345 for living expenses, paid in installments during the course
  • Funding of up to £2,200 for attending an international conference in the field
  • £1,700 for essential equipment purchases such as a suitable laptop
  • An additional £1,870 to help with relocation costs.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates need to meet the following requirements:

  • Self-identify as female
  • Show proof, if necessary, that they cannot pursue the admission offer without financial support

Moreover, applicants should:

  • Secure a conditional or unconditional offer to pursue the Master’s in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning degree at the University of Birmingham.”
  • Be a UK resident and qualify as such for fee payment, or an international student assessed as such for fee payment.

Timeline

  • International applicants must submit their scholarship applications by July 21st, 2024.
  • UK applicants, on the other hand, have until August 18th, 2024, to submit their applications.
