The UK Government provides 1500 international students with the chance to pursue a fully-funded Master’s degree at universities in the United Kingdom on an annual basis.
Chevening is a scholarship initiative provided by the UK government in collaboration with the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office and affiliated organizations. It offers fully funded scholarships for one-year Master’s degree programs in the UK.
Successful Chevening applicants represent a variety of countries and backgrounds, showcasing the necessary passion, vision, and skills to contribute to creating a better world.
Benefits
The 2025 Chevening Scholarship Award is fully funded and includes the following:
- University tuition fees
- A monthly stipend
- An arrival allowance
- A homeward departure allowance
- The cost of one visa application
- Coverage of travel expenses to and from the UK
- Receive funding to support your trip to the UK for Chevening events through a travel grant.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Chevening scholarship program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Hold citizenship in a country or territory that is eligible for the Chevening program.
- Pledge to return to your home country for at least two years after finishing the scholarship.
- Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for entry into a postgraduate program at a UK university before applying.
- Typically possess an upper second-class (2:1) honors degree in the UK, though requirements may vary based on your chosen course and university.
- Have a minimum of two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience.
- Apply to three eligible UK university courses and obtain an unconditional offer from one of them by the specified deadline.
You are not eligible to apply if you:
- Hold British citizenship or dual British citizenship unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) status applying from Hong Kong.
- Have refugee status in a non-Chevening eligible country. However, applicants with refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country are eligible.
- Currently work or have worked within the past two years for the UK government.
- Have been employed by or are related to a current or former employee of a Chevening Partner organization within the past two years; this excludes you from receiving a Chevening Partner Award from the relevant organization.
- Previously studied in the UK with financial support from a UK Government scholarship.

How to Apply
- Before applying for the Chevening Scholarship Award, ensure you have applied to at least three UK universities and accepted an offer from at least one.
- The deadline to receive and submit at least one unconditional UK university offer is 5:00 PM BST on July 11, 2025.
- After that, you can apply for the Chevening Scholarship Award by clicking on Apply .
- Create an account, log in, and complete the application form as instructed.
- You will receive email updates about your application status at each stage of the selection process. You can also check your status on the online application system by logging in with your registration details.
- Once submitted, applications are reviewed electronically against our eligibility criteria. Any applications found to be ineligible will be removed from the selection process.
- If there are errors in your application form, your application will be ineligible.
- Please note that once your application is submitted, it cannot be altered.
- Successful applicants will be contacted and shortlisted for an interview in February 2025.
