Think Canada 2024 is an annual essay competition that is open to African students. The competition is organized by the Canadian government as part of their international education initiatives.
The goal of the competition is to encourage African students to think about the role of education in addressing global challenges and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants are asked to write an essay on a specific theme related to education and development.
For the 2024 competition, the theme is “Future Trends in Education Industry: Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainability”
We invite students to reflect on how education can equip young people in Africa with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to create more sustainable and inclusive societies.
Eligible applicants must be citizens of an African country and currently enrolled in a degree program at a recognized university or college.
The essays will be evaluated by a panel of experts on criteria such as originality, critical analysis, and clarity of expression.
The winners of the competition will receive a partially funded scholarship to study at a Canadian university or college for one academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
All citizens can enter the Think Canada Education Annual Essay Competition. The competition is free, but applicants must be current high school or sixth-form college students or recent graduates (from the year 2023) from Nigeria or Ghana.
The eligible applicants include:
- Final year and penultimate (second-to-last year) high school students
- Sixth-form college students
- Recent high school graduates
