The Kentucky Food Benefits/ EBT Program (SNAP)
To get a better understanding of the Kentucky snap program, I will begin by explaining to you what the snap program entails and what it is all about. The snap benefits, food stamps or food benefits program helps people and families with little or no money to buy food and healthy meals that will be enough for them and their families. This program as the name entails is an assistance nutritional program. This program offers assistance by providing people with an EBT card formerly known as food stamps. These cards, on the other hand, can then be used to purchase eligible food items from participating stores.

The benefits of this program will be deposited into an account known as the benefit account every month. When you have been accepted into the program you will be provided with an EBT card and a personal identification number associated with the card. With this card and the PIN, you will then be able to access your snap benefits. The benefits of this program although can only be used to purchase certain food items. On the other hand, there are some food items that cannot be purchased with the benefits of this program. Kentucky Food Benefits Program Requirements
In order to partake or be a beneficiary of this program, you will need to meet up with the program requirements. Firstly you will need to be a resident of the state of Kentucky. Other requirements include;
- Having a current bank balance under $2,001 or you have a current bank balance under $3, 001 and you share your household with a person or persons age 60 and over or a disabled person.
To qualify for the Kentucky snap program you must have an annual household income that is below any of the following amounts and they are;
- Household size of 1 – maximum income level yearly is $16,588.
- Household size of 2 – maximum income level yearly is $22,412.
- A household size of 3 – maximum annual income level of $28,236.
- Household size of 4 – maximum income level is $34,060.
- Household size of 5 – maximum income level is $39,884.
- A Household size of 6 – maximum income level is $45,708.
- Household size of 7 – maximum income level is $51,532.
- Household size of 8 – maximum income level is $57,356.
Lastly, for households with more than eight people, you will have to add $5,824 per additional person. All the figures listed here are yearly and before taxes.

Kentucky Food Benefits Program Eligibility
In order to be eligible for this program, you will need to meet up with the basic requirements. Adults age 21 and above who still live with their parents may qualify for this program. They may also qualify for their own program if they purchase and prepare their own foods separately from their parents.
Adults siblings also living together, but not with their parents, who prepare and purchase meals separately may also have separate accounts on this program. However, there are some persons that must be included in one household account as they cannot have their own account regardless of the fact that they purchase and prepare meals separately and they are;
- A spouse of any household member.
- Children who are younger than 18 and are still dependent on an adult household member.
- Parents living with their natural adopted or stepchildren that are aged 21 or older.
These are some of the basic eligibility requirements of this program. Other requirements of this program are citizenship, work registration, resources in terms of assets and cash, and income.
