The Hungarian government created the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program to encourage the internationalization of Hungarian higher education and to draw in top international students from around the globe who can enjoy top-notch education in the center of Europe while forming personal and professional ties to Hungary.
However, Partial and full-time study in Hungary at various degree levels, including non-degree programs, one-tier degrees, and bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate programs, is possible through the fully financed foreign scholarship.
Benefits
For postgraduate specialized training programs, bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, and non-degree programs
- There is no tuition.
- Stipend per month
- Free housing in a dorm or a living allowance
- Health insurance.
For Hungarian PhD Programs
- There is no tuition.
- HUF 140,000 (about EUR 350) per month for the first four semesters.
- HUF 180,000 (about EUR 450) per month during the second part of four semesters till the end of studies.
- For the length of the program, free dorm housing or a monthly accommodation payment of HUF 40,000 will be offered.

Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Duration
Here are the durations for the scholarship programs;
- Bachelor’s Scholarships: 2-4 Years
- Master’s Scholarships: 1.5-2 Years
- One-tier master: 5-6 Years
- Doctoral Scholarships: 4 Years
- Non-degree Programs: 1 Year
Criteria Eligibility
Below are the criteria for eligibility for this scholarship.
- Applications for the scholarship are open to all foreign applicants.
- Individuals with dual nationality, especially those from Hungary, or Hungarian citizens are not eligible.
- By August 31, 2025, applicants must be at least eighteen years old.
- Students enrolled in any higher education institution in Hungary who are currently self-financing their education are not eligible.
- Previous scholarship recipients can’t reapply.

- Proof of Language proficiency.

- One-pager motivation letter in the specified format of 12 Times New Roman in the Hungarian language.

- Portfolio and Audio Portfolio (required for Art and Music applicants only).
Application Process
Applying for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2025/2026 requires that applicants should apply through the official scholarship website of the Tempus Public Foundation and then proceed to provide all their personal information in a detailed manner, complete all your required fields for each level and then proceed to submit the application on the website and then click on submit.
Going further, you should know that, applicants must apply via the sending partner of their respective countries after completing the Tempus Foundation website, and to apply using the online system, candidates must accept the statement.
