Steam Link App is now on Mac App Store – Using Steam Link App on Mac OS

Apple is known for its stringent quality control over its app stores but some developers, not only Epic games, have always criticized its sometimes-incomprehensible policies that have been applied inconsistently depending on the app. Valve learned that the hard way years ago when it was launched the first steam link was launched on the app for iOS. While that has been resolved, it took almost about two more years before the macOS version of the app makes it was finally to Apple’s desktop platform. Steam Link App is now on Mac App Store.

Steam Link App is Now on Mac App Store

Steam links is a previously dedicated hardware that would allow all the owners to stream steam games from a PC that is powerful to somewhere in the house to any other supported device, be it a PC or a mobile device. Valve has been long removed from their middle man, though, and simplified things by only requiring a single steam link app. Regardless of the software or hardware implementation, the concept would stay the same.

That did not go well with Apple when Valve Launched Steam Link for iOS. iPhone makers also claimed that the app violated its app store policies, particularly one that prohibited any other content store that is available on the mobile platform despite the steam link simply being a remote desktop kind of software. After going back and forth, it turned out that apple’s top gripe was that they could not control what the users would be purchasing it from steam, most especially content that it does not deem appropriate for all its users.

Using Steam Link App on Mac OS

About a year later, Steam Link App is now on Mac App Store finally, and with the one restriction that you couldn’t purchase the new games through that link and only stream games that you’ve bought on Steam. Almost about two years later, Steam Link is also now available on the Mac App Store with the exact same restrictions.

Steam happens to be, available on macOS directly but it would be allowed on Mac users to use a beefier gaming PC or access the titles that are available only for Windows, Steam’s main platform. That stated a fast and stable local network would be needed, preferably Gigabit Ethernet or 5GHz Wi-Fi. Controller support would also be possible but only for MFi-certified controllers.
