The European University Institute Jean Monnet Fellowship 2027 is inviting applications from experienced scholars interested in spending a year at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies in Florence, Italy.<\/p>\n

The fellowship is designed for researchers who have already completed their doctorate and want to develop a research project in an academic environment focused on European and international affairs.<\/p>\n

Applications for the 2027-2028 fellowship are currently open, with the deadline set for October 23, 2026.<\/p>\n

About the Jean Monnet Fellowship<\/b><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Jean Monnet Fellowship is a one-year residential research fellowship offered by the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute.<\/p>\n

Up to 20 fellowships are offered each year. Also, during the fellowship, researchers work on an individual research project that should fit with one of the Centre’s research themes, programmes or projects.<\/p>\n

Fellows are also expected to take an active part in the academic life of the Centre and interact with researchers and other fellows.<\/p>\n

Important Note for Applicants<\/b><\/strong><\/h2>\n

This opportunity should not be confused with a PhD scholarship. The Jean Monnet Fellowship is a postdoctoral research fellowship for scholars who obtained their doctorate more than five years before the fellowship begins.<\/p>\n

Who Is Eligible for Jean Monnet Fellowship?<\/b><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The fellowship is intended for scholars who obtained their doctorate more than five years before the start of the fellowship.<\/p>\n

For the 2027-2028 academic year, applicants must have obtained their PhD before September 1, 2022, and also Candidates of all nationalities can apply.<\/p>\n

The fellowship is therefore aimed at postdoctoral scholars, academics and researchers rather than people who are still completing their PhD.<\/p>\n

What Does the Jean Monnet Fellowship<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0<\/b><\/strong>Cover?<\/b><\/strong><\/h2>\n

The fellowship lasts for 12 months, from September to August.<\/p>\n

Successful fellows are expected to live in the Florence area during the fellowship so that they can participate in the academic activities of the Robert Schuman Centre.<\/p>\n

The fellowship also allows researchers to develop work that can eventually lead to an academic publication.<\/p>\n
