As part of the foundation’s commitment to fostering excellence, the foundation recognizes that support is essential for mastering one’s trade. Thus the foundation is awarding funding bursary opportunities to students looking to pursue a study in Actuarial Science in 2025.

The funds also extend to current students in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year in the same field. Since the foundation’s inception in 2011, it has invested over R746 million in various initiatives aimed at improving education and financial literacy.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Sanlam Actuarial bursaries, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Undergraduate Studies:

  • Must be Current full-time Actuarial Science students (both South African and non-South African citizens) in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of studies.
  • Demonstrated academic ability and a will to succeed are essential.

School-Leaving Learners:

  • The fund is available for students intending to study Actuarial Science in 2025.
  • A strong aptitude for mathematics, a love for solving challenging problems, and the ability to stay focused and disciplined through years of studying and training are required.

For School-Leaving Learners:

  1. Academic results:
  • Final 2023 Grade 11 results.
  • Grade 12 mid-year 2024 results.
  • National Benchmark Test (NBT) results.
  1. Final Grade 12 results may be considered.
  2. A score above 90% in Mathematics and an overall A aggregate.
  3. A CV emphasizing academic performance, extra-curricular activities, and leadership skills.
