The fellowship program does not necessitate participation in a set daily program and can be customized to each fellow’s requirements and interests.

While in Berlin, the fellows can participate in joint activities and media house visits, and they learn about the work of the Taz Panter Foundation, which supports independent and critical journalists in close collaboration with the Tageszeitung (taz) and Reporters Without Borders, a global human rights organization.

Eligibility Requirements for Rest and Resilience Fellowship 2025 in Germany

  • Several years of appropriate work experience as a professional journalist is required. And also, need to have a personal threat profile because they work in journalism or are exposed to risky situations at work.
  • Proficiency in English is required.

  • must be physically capable of extended travel and a six-month stay abroad.
  • The ability to manage daily tasks in a foreign nation requires self-sufficiency.
  • After finishing the fellowship program, they should be prepared to go back to their own country.

Well, unfortunately, applications from journalists who are unable to return to their home country because of the political climate or their personal safety situation will not be taken into consideration. This is primarily because the German government will not provide a visa if there is no chance of return.
