What You Need To Set Up A PayPal Account
Just as mentioned earlier there are lots of things that go with setting up a papal account. Aside from the traditional means of filling a form, there are some things that you will need to have in place before you start the creation of your account and they are called account requirements. You will need a debit or credit card used for making payments. Also, you will need to have your credit card and or bank account statement for verification purposes. This is because you will have to verify your account after creating it. In some cases, you may need a form of ID like an international passport, a driver’s license, national ID card, and other forms of ID.
Types Of PayPal Account
Before setting up an account on the platform it is important that you know that there are two types of accounts on this platform and you will have to select one. The types of PayPal account include;
- Personal account.
- Business account.
These are the two types of accounts on the PayPal platform and you will have to select one to continue with your account set up process on the platform. Each of these accounts mentioned above have their own perks and uses, so you have to make sure you choose well according to your preference.
If you are looking to send money to friends and family and you also wish to do shopping online, you will need to choose or select a personal PayPal account. On the other hand, if you are looking to sell products online and also accept credit and debit card payments, you will need a business account. The business account on this platform is all about business.
PayPal Account Sign Up Steps
The PayPal personal account is the easiest of both accounts when it comes to setting up although the process for both accounts is very similar. For the purpose of this article, I will be using the personal account as a case study. To set up a personal account, follow the steps below;
- Go to PayPal.
- Click on the sign-up button at the top right corner of the PayPal page.
- Choose the account type you want, business or personal and click on continue.
- Enter your name, email address, and password in the spaces provided and click on continue.
- On the next page, enter your address and other pieces of information required and click on the continue tab.
- Click on the blue-colored get started button and add your credit card info and click add card.
That’s it. However, you will have to verify your PayPal account via the email address you provided when setting up the account.
PayPal Account Verification
Firstly you will need to verify your account via your email address. And to do this you will have to click on the link in the email message sent to you. For various safety reasons on the platform, PayPal may require that you verify your cards on the platform before you start making use of them. Doing this is easy and I will be guiding you through the steps like I always do. To verify your PayPal account, follow the steps below;
- Log in to your PayPal account you just created.
- Click on the wallet button or tab and choose the card you want to verify.
- On the next page or pop up click on the confirm card link followed by OK. You will be charged a fee for this action which will be deducted from your card.
- You will have to check PayPal’s charge on your credit card statement and write down a four-digit code.
- Click on the wallet tab again and select the card you want to verify.
- Enter the four-digit code you put down and click on the confirm button.
You will have to follow the same steps and procedures listed above when you want to verify other cards on the platform via your account.
