Google launched Android 12 back in October 2021, but the company has since then been adding more interesting improvements and features. One Area that Google seems to place its attention on is working with other devices.

As stated by Deloitte, the average US household now has around 25 connected devices, up from11 in 2019. Given the amount of smartphones devices that are at the centre of connected device workflows, Google obviously wants to work on the experience with Android.

Improvements in Pairing

One major area that google seems to be improving is its Fast pair feature. Fast pair was created to speed up and simplify the process of paring An Android phone with Bluetooth devices. As stated by the company, they are working to offer support to additional devices, including TVs and smart home products. Google has other plans to expand this functionality to Chromebook also.

“Starting soon, when you turn on your Fast pair-enabled headphones, Your Chromebook would detect it immediately and pair with just one click, allowing you to remain focused when studying or working wherever you are, “writes Erik Kay, VP of multi-device Experiences.

“if you are looking to receiving a new Chromebook later in the year, you Can make use of your Android Phone to quickly set it up and get immediate access to all of the information that you already have saved, like your Google Login and Wi-Fi password.”

AirPods get to connect to an Apple TV, Google Has plans to make it a lot easy to pair Bluetooth headphones alongside a Google TV or An Android TV OS device.

Better Device Unlocking

A smartphone can already unlock their Chromebook using their Android phone. Google has future plans to further extend this great functionality to WearOS devices, so the user would get to unlock their phone, tablet, or their Chromebook along with their Android watch.

Also, the company is working on improving its support for Vehicle integration, taking up the use of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology. This technology would aid the phone in unlocking a paired vehicle without having to physically hold the phone close to the lock. Instead, users would get to leave their smartphones in their pockets and still get offered access to vehicles.

Better Integration with Other Devices

People that possess a lot of devices would soon be given access to communicate better with the data or media across their devices. Let’s say someone is watching a movie using their tablet and their headphones. If their phone rings, the movie would be paused and the headphones would switch the connection automatically to the phone, and then switch back once the call is concluded.

Google also is working to improve the Hub to offer Chromebook much better access to phone chat apps, without having to reinstall them on their Chromebook. This would make things a lot easier to stay in contact through a Chromebook when a person’s phone is out of reach.

In a first for Android, Google seems to work on other platforms, especially Microsoft Windows. This would further help with the improvement of integration between the two platforms.

By connecting your Android phone to your Windows PC with fast pair, you would be able to set up Bluetooth accessories, sync text messages and share files alongside nearby share,” continues Kay. “we would be working alongside Acer, HP and Intel to bring in these amazing new features to select windows PCs first later this year.”
