Is Facebook Dating Secured: Facebook Dating Reviews | Facebook dating App

Is Facebook Dating Secured – Let’s be honest, Facebook has a long history of betraying users’ privacy and trust. They’ve faced record fines (remember that $5 billion dollar fine for privacy failures?) and have been caught hiding privacy breaches from their users. Now they’re asking people to give them even more personal information to help them find love.

Is Facebook Dating Secured

What could go wrong? Given Facebook’s terrible track record, we’re worried a lot. Facebook Dating isn’t a separate app, it is part of the general Facebook app, and it is well established that the Facebook app tracks a whole lot of useful information like when you visit a coffee shop (if you don’t turn off location sharing) and what is going on in the photos you share.

According to a press release on Facebook Dating’s safety and privacy tools provided, the only thing that will come with you from your regular Facebook profile to your Facebook Dating profile (and again, only if you choose to create a Facebook Dating profile in the first place) is your first name and age; you choose whether any other information makes its way from one profile to the other.

Is Facebook Dating Secured

If you’re concerned about privacy, Facebook Dating is opt-in so if you have no interest in using the service, it won’t be an issue for you. A Facebook Dating profile will never be made for you unless you choose to make one, so you can feel free to straight-up ignore the feature and carry on.

What’s more, if you do opt-in, your Facebook Dating activity isn’t shared with the rest of Facebook, so the only way people who don’t match with you will know you’re using Facebook Dating is if you share with them that you are. (It also goes without saying that you can delete your Facebook Dating profile at any time, too, right? Right.)

Additionally, you’re also in control of how you appear to other users: Per the press release, “whether you provide different information than you have on your Facebook profile, and if you share details such as your hometown, religion, occupation, and more within Dating” are entirely up to you.

Can You Get Scammed on Facebook Dating

Romance scammers create fake profiles on dating sites and apps or contact their targets through popular social media sites like Instagram, Facebook, or Google Hangouts. The scammers strike up a relationship with their targets to build their trust, sometimes talking or chatting several times a day.

Is the Facebook Dating App Private?

Dating profiles will still list any mutual friends you share with someone. Because Facebook is such an extensive social network, even a feature like Dating that’s “private” might not stay that way. As on any dating app, people will surely take screenshots and share information with friends and acquaintances.

What Happens When You Join Facebook Dating

Facebook Dating lets you set gender preferences for people you’d like to be matched with. Up to nine photos can be used in a profile as well as an ice-breaker question such as, “What three emoji best describe you?” Once completed, Facebook’s dating algorithm selects and displays potential matches.
