The iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE endorses initiatives that aim to enhance our communities. If your project aligns with any of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and works towards their achievement, it qualifies for support.

All submissions must align with the 15 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • No Poverty: While extreme poverty rates have decreased by 50% since 1990, one in five individuals in developing regions still live on less than $1.90 a day.
  • Zero Hunger: Efforts to address hunger require rethinking how food is grown, shared, and consumed to help nourish the 795 million people facing hunger today.
  • Good Health and Well-Being: Sustainable development hinges on ensuring healthy lives, necessitating additional initiatives to increase life expectancy.
  • Quality Education: Significant progress has been made in basic literacy skills, yet more ambitious endeavors are necessary to achieve universal education objectives.
  • Gender Equality: Ensuring equality for women and girls is not only a fundamental human right but also contributes to sustainable economies and societal well-being.
  • Clean Water and Sanitation: Inadequate water supply, sanitation, and hygiene result in millions of deaths due to poor infrastructure.
  • Affordable and Clean Energy: The goal is to provide universal access to modern energy services, enhance efficiency, and promote renewable energy sources.
  • Decent Work and Economic Growth: Creating quality jobs remains a significant challenge for most economies in the foreseeable future.
  • Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure: Technological advancements and innovation are crucial for industrialization, which in turn drives development.
  • Reduced Inequalities: Addressing inequality requires universal policies that cater to the needs of marginalized and disadvantaged populations.
  • Sustainable Cities and Communities: Urban centers play a key role in social and economic progress; however, challenges such as congestion, inadequate housing, and failing infrastructure persist in some cities.
  • Responsible Consumption and Production: Focusing on responsible consumption and production involves maximizing resource and energy efficiency to improve quality of life for all.
  • Climate Action: Climate change is impacting every country and continent, causing disruptions to economies and livelihoods.
  • Life Below Water: Careful management of this vital global resource is integral to ensuring a sustainable future.
  • Life on Land: Forests, covering 30% of Earth’s surface, play a critical role in addressing climate change, preserving biodiversity, and protecting indigenous habitats.

Social initiatives backed by the iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE will have the opportunity to:

  • Contend for a portion of the €100,000 prize money

  • Connect with an international design community, engaging design enthusiasts and media worldwide
  • Selected projects by the jury will be bestowed with a personalized Winner Certificate.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligibility to apply extends to those whose endeavors are geared towards the fulfillment of one or more UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  • It’s requisite that your project is currently operational; you’re allowed to reapply with the same initiative up to two times in total.
  • Student conceptual projects are not considered for application.
