Hinge Dating Profile Now Has Voice Notes and Prompts

Hinge Dating Profile Now Has Voice Notes and Prompts. The hinge dating app profile has recently added voice notes and prompts, amazing right? Well, the dating app Hinge is adding new audio features, letting users answer the “getting to know you” prompts on their profile using audio clips and exchange voice notes in chat.

The new features will roll out Wednesday globally and are the latest example of apps using voice to add a new dimension to digital dating. Rival services like Bumble and Happn have already added voice notes to their app, and one app, String, only lets users communicate with their voice.

For many people, the sound of someone’s voice can be an important part of the attraction, and exchanging voice notes is a more expressive way to communicate.

If users want to add a voice prompt to their profile, they should make sure the app is updated, then head to Settings > Edit Profile > Voice Prompt. You can record a voice note for any of Hinge’s regular prompts (questions like worst date stories and favorite random facts).

According to the verge, “Hinge wants to help people get to know you as soon as they see your profile. If a picture is worth 1,000 words, imagine how many your voice is,” said Hinge’s chief product officer Michelle Parsons in a press release.

“With the introduction of Voice Prompts, we’re adding more authenticity to the profile experience, allowing users to fully display their personality in a new way.”

Voice Notes Prompting Sparks

Feeling a spark with someone can be difficult when limited to just text and photos. In a recent Hinge study, 75% of users said that assessing chemistry is one of the hardest parts of modern dating right now, but 65% of Hinge singles believe hearing someone’s voice would help them determine interest in a match.

“Hearing someone’s voice connects us in ways that seeing a photo or reading a text can’t,” said Logan Ury, Director of Relationship Science. “So it’s not surprising that 52% of Hinge users say they can learn more about a potential match through a voice message.

It gives you a chance to check in with yourself early on about what the other person makes you feel, whether that’s chemistry, confusion, or disinterest.”

How it Works

Below are tips on how the voice notes work;

  • From the Settings screen, click Edit Profile. Tap ‘Select a prompt’ in the new ‘Voice Prompt’ section to add a Prompt.
  • Select a Voice Prompt, such as “best travel story,” to record your response.
  • Tap the microphone icon to begin recording for up to 30 seconds.
  • Tap the stop button when you’re done recording. You can listen to it before it goes live by pressing the play button.
  • Click ‘done’ and your Voice Prompt will be added and displayed under the first picture on your profile.

According to hinge, with the above steps, you can easily decode how the voice note works.

Hinge

Hinge is a smartphone dating app, available for iPhones/iPads and an Android device, that’s focused on relationships rather than hookups and tries to match you with people your friends know and can vouch for.

When someone likes you, they have to match a certain thing on your profile, whether it’s liking a picture or commenting on one of your answers. You get a notification, and you can choose to reply, remove, or just click match and then leave them to initiate conversation.
