Eligibility Criteria

- Candidates must be citizens of one of the chosen Global South nations (see country list) and be from one of those nations.
- A candidate, a supervisor (promoter) at Ghent University, and a supervisor at the partner university (South) must submit the proposals together.
- No constraints are put on the field of research, nevertheless, preference will be given to issues that are significant within the North-South context.
- Only degree students who are those aiming to earn a (co-op) PhD at Ghent University are eligible to apply. Exchange students cannot apply for this scholarship.
- This program is designed for students who are just starting their doctoral studies. PhD candidates may, to a certain degree, have previously finished preliminary research.
- In order to encourage more female researchers to apply for this scholarship, a minimum of 36 months of doctoral research must still be completed by the time the fellowship begins (1/10/2025). For this reason, a supervisor at Ghent University may only endorse a maximum of two applicants per call, provided that they are both of a different gender.
