Europe’s Youth4Regions Programme is a Commission-led programme that connects journalism students and young journalists with the European Union’s regional activities. The programme aims to educate and inform young journalists about the EU’s initiatives and projects in their region, fostering greater understanding and awareness of the EU’s impact on their community.

The European Commission’s Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) aims to encourage journalism students and young journalists to gain knowledge and expertise in Regional Policy and communicate the importance of European solidarity and the concrete projects funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Cohesion Fund (CF). The specific goals of this Progranmme are:

  • To provide a framework for young journalists to specialize in EU Regional Policy and develop their skills.
  • To encourage the production of innovative and engaging journalistic content that promotes awareness of EU-funded projects (ERDF and CF).
  • To inspire creative and innovative ways of covering the European Week of Regions and Cities.
  • To strengthen the connections between European institutions and young Europeans, promoting a sense of community and shared values.

Eligibility Criteria

  • You are interested in learning about the European Union’s (EU) and Cohesion Policy’s activities in your region.
  • You have a background in journalism, either through studies or up to 2 years of work experience.
  • You are a citizen of the EU or a neighboring country, and you are between 18 and 30 years old.
  • You are available to participate from October 5th to October 11th, 2024.
