ETH Zurich Excellence Masters Scholarship is an amazing scholarship that you should apply for if you are in need of funds to proceed with a Master’s degree.
Well, students are assisted by the ETH Foundation’s network, mentorship, and scholarship through the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Program (ESOP). The entire cost of living and studying for the Master’s degree is covered by the scholarship.
Eligibility
- Excellent performance in the bachelor’s degree program (grade A in the top 10% of the program).
- Since the selection process may involve a phone or video conference interview in February, please ensure that you are reachable at the number listed on your resume.
Moreover, you cannot participate in ESOP if you already have a Master’s degree or are enrolled in one at ETH Zurich.
Application Window
For an ESOP Scholarship, you must apply within the first application window which is open from 1-30 November 2024.
Application Documents
You must upload a pre-proposal for your master’s thesis together with the documentation required for admission.
The master’s thesis pre-proposal needs to be created independently using accepted scientific citation guidelines.
Plagiarism and careless or deliberately false information will result in expulsion from the admissions process or, if found out later, the cancellation of the scholarship and admission.
Also, you must list two reference people (professors) on your ESOP application if your study program does not request references. After receiving an email from the system, these individuals ought to upload a letter of recommendation.
Scholarship Amount and Duration
The Excellence Scholarship/ESOP includes a tuition fee waiver in addition to a scholarship that covers living and study expenses (CHF 12,000 per semester).
ESOP is granted for three or four semesters, which is the standard length of the Master’s program.
Going further, this also holds true for the waiver of tuition fees.
The only students who can begin the ESOP with a leave of absence are ETH Bachelor students.
Selection Process
At the beginning of the 2025/2026 school year, about 60 ESOP scholarships will be given out. At the end of March, the choice is shared.
The Admissions Committees of the individual Master’s programs review the applicants. The Rector at ETH Zurich has the last say in scholarship distribution under the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Program. The precise number of scholarships awarded each year is determined by the amount of money available. By the end of March, the decisions are shared.
