Émile Boutmy Scholarship 2024-25 | Fully Funded | €14,210 Grants

The Émile Boutmy Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic session is now open for applications. To attract the best international students from outside the European Union, Sciences Po established the Émile Boutmy scholarship, which bears the name of the school’s founder, who died in 1871.

Émile Boutmy Scholarship

The sponsors (benefactors, companies, and foundations) of the Émile Boutmy scholarship fund generously provide funding so that the most eligible international students can attend Sciences Po. The Émile Boutmy Scholarship is awarded based on merit and by the kind of applicant profile that this programme is looking for. Social criteria could also be considered.

Benefits of Émile Boutmy Scholarships

  • For Bachelor’s Degree Programme: The prestigious Émile Boutmy Scholarships are awarded to new students at Sciences Po for their first year of studies. The Undergraduate or Bachelors award can take several different forms:
  1. A grant of up to €14,210 annually for the 3 years of the undergraduate taught programme, to cover the tuition cost
  2. A tuition grant of €9,500 every year for 3 years of the undergraduate programme.
  3. A tuition grant amount of €6,500 yearly for the 3 years of the undergraduate programme.
  4. A tuition fee grant amount of €3,900 yearly for the 3 years of the undergraduate programme.

Note: Recipients of the Émile Boutmy scholarship can renew the award automatically if the student chooses to continue their graduate studies at Sciences Po

  • For Masters Level programme –

The Émile Boutmy programme is a tuition grant that partially covers the tuition costs for the two years of the Master’s degree programme. The amount provided in 2023 is €13,100; that of 2024 is not yet confirmed).

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Émile Boutmy Scholarship, students must be meet the requirements below:

  • Students must be first-time applicants, from a non-EU state, whose household does not file taxes within the European Union, and who have received admission to the Undergraduate or Master’s programme.

Ineligibility: The following students are not eligible for Émile Boutmy Scholarship;

  • Applicants from Switzerland and Norway, since they may be entitled to CROUS scholarships
  • Candidates with dual citizenship, including an EU citizenship
  • Quebec masters degree Candidates. But, candidates from Quebec for a bachelor’s degree are eligible
  • Master’s level dual-degree candidates are not eligible. The scholarship is available for applicants for the following dual degrees are eligible:
  • Applicants with dual degree in Journalism Sciences Po/Columbia University
  • The Europe-Asia in Global Affairs dual degree programme offered by Sciences Po/Fudan University (open to Chinese nationals only)
  • Sciences Po/Peking University joint degree programme (open to only Chinese nationals)
  • Students in doctoral programmes (theses)
  • Applicants for the one-year Master’s degree
  • Those seeking a dual bachelor’s degree (unless otherwise agreed upon)
  • Students on exchange
  • Applicants applying to the graduate admissions process in French

Required Documents Émile Boutmy Scholarships

To apply for Po Émile Boutmy Scholarships, applicants are required to submit the following documents;

  • A proof of income explaining the family condition (for Undergraduate level applicants)
  • No additional document is required for an application at the graduate level, however, the university might ask applicants to provide proof of income if necessary.

9 June 2024. The university will not accept any application requests after the deadline.
