As they launch the 2024 Call for Code Global Challenge, they invite students, developers, and innovators worldwide to leverage IBM WatsonX to create cutting-edge AI solutions that tackle specific issues related to equitable access to essential resources. Prizes

Teams consisting of 1-5 individuals are eligible to compete for the following rewards:

  • Grand prize: $50,000 USD
  • Possibility for support in implementing the solution through the Call for Code ecosystem
  • Chance for assistance with open-source projects from The Linux Foundation
  • First runner-up: USD 25,000
  • Opportunity for support with open-source endeavors from The Linux Foundation
  • Second runner-up: USD 10,000
  • Potential for support with open-source initiatives from The Linux Foundation
  • University grant: USD 30,000
  • It Will be awarded to the top-scoring university team(s)

In addition to the prizes mentioned above:

  • Students from universities in the top 3 teams are also eligible for:
  • Exploring job opportunities at IBM
  • Possibility of being paired with an IBM mentor
  • Participants can enhance their skills in AI, cloud computing, and other emerging technologies by accessing expert technical guidance, training materials, and events.

Eligibility Criteria

  • This competition is open to participants from universities and companies worldwide, including students, developers, and problem-solvers.

Judging Criteria

The judges will evaluate every submission using the criteria mentioned below. The scoring will range from 0 to 20, with 0 being the lowest score and 20 being the highest. The final score will be calculated by taking the average of the judges’ scores.

  • Completeness and transferability (5 points)
  • Effectiveness and efficiency (5 points)
  • Design and usability (5 points)
  • Creativity and innovation (5 points)
