Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for the Cooke and Alfred Godfrey Scholarship must meet these requirements:
Admission Requirements:
- Unconditional admission to study full-time in the PhD, Master of Criminology (MCrim) (Research), or Master of Laws (LLM) (Research) at the Sydney Law School.
Academic Background:
- Hold one of the following qualifications in Law:
- An Honours degree (first or second class or higher) or equivalent
- A Master’s degree obtained through research
- A Master’s degree with honours or outstanding coursework that includes a research component of 25% of a full-time academic year
- A law degree combined with research or relevant professional experience equivalent to a first-class honours degree.
Preference:
- Preference is given to first-year students, although current MCrim by Research or LLM by Research students enrolled in a full-time PhD program may also be considered if they show outstanding research progress.
Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship provides a stipend of $50,000 per year for up to 3.5 years for postgraduate research students in the Faculty of Law.
