The Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science, as well as Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences, provide funding for the Erasmus University NL Scholarship. The fellowship is intended for outstanding non-EEA students enrolled in English-taught degree programs in Holland (EEA includes the EU as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway).

Scholarship Value
The scholarship offered by Erasmus University NL ranges from €5,000 to €10,000. This will be given to you throughout your first year of study. Please be aware that this grant does not cover full tuition.
Also, the scholarship will only be paid out if you enroll in the same course of study for which you applied, were accepted, and received the award.
Eligibility Criteria
Here are the eligibility criteria for applicants who are interested in the scholarship.
- You must pay the institutional tuition charge since you are a citizen of a non-EEA nation and do not possess additional EEA nationality.
- You have never been enrolled in a Dutch educational institution as a full-time student.
- You have not earned a diploma from a Dutch educational institution.
- You have been or will be admitted into one of ESSB’s bachelor’s programs.
- Given your motivation and grade point average at the time of application (as shown by your academic record), you are regarded as an exceptional applicant. On a Dutch grading scale of 1 to 10, the average grade should, as a general rule, be equal to the Dutch grade of 8.0.
Application Process
The application includes a motivation letter (no more than one page) in which the applicant responds to two questions:
- Why is the scholarship necessary for you?
- Why should we think highly of you as an applicant?
Grades may be included in the response to the last question, but they are not required.
The Erasmus University NL scholarship will be open for applications starting on November 1, 2023. The scholarship application needs to:
- Must be submitted using the EUR Admissions PortalOpens external (not by email!) before May 1st, 2024.
- You can use the portal to apply for a bachelor’s program and include your motivation letter for the NL Scholarship.
- Please pay close attention to the bachelor’s program application deadline.
Please be advised that admission to the bachelor’s program is a prerequisite for receiving a scholarship. You can receive a conditional offer if your studies are still ongoing.

The Erasmus University NL Scholarship in the Netherlands 2024 application deadline date is February 1, 2024.
