Entering its 12th consecutive year, the Thomson Foundation’s Young Journalist Award, in collaboration with the UK Foreign Press Association (FPA), is now accepting entries from journalists who are 30 years old or younger.
Over the years, the Young Journalist Award has significantly advanced the careers of numerous outstanding journalists. These individuals have showcased an intricate mosaic of investigative reporting, shedding light on pressing social concerns and fearlessly scrutinizing those in power.
The yearly contest is jointly run with the UK’s Foreign Press Association (FPA) and the winners are announced at the FPA’s yearly awards ceremony held in London. This partnership and event serve as a beacon for young journalists, highlighting the importance of their work in today’s society.

Eligibility Criteria
- Contestants are required to be 30 years old or younger as of November 25, 2024.
- Participants should hail from nations with a Gross National Income (GNI) per capita that does not exceed $20,000.
- Submissions may be in any language; however, they must be accompanied by an exact English translation.
