The Simmons Distinguished Scholar Award is a distinguished and competitive award given to students who have excelled academically, shown a strong sense of community service, and have a burning desire to improve society.
Simmons Distinguished Scholar Award – Details
Students join a vibrant campus community that provides a wealth of chances for social interaction, cultural exploration, and intellectual and personal development.
Simmons Distinguished Scholar Award is awarded for four years of full-time undergraduate study and supersedes any previously awarded merit scholarship.
Eligiblity Requirements for Distinguished Scholar Award
Students who wish to apply for the Simmons Distinguished Scholar Award must meet the following criteria:
- The student must apply to Simmons University as a first-year student for the fall semester
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.50
- Candidates should have a record of taking college prep, AP, or IB Courses
- All non-native English speakers are required to provide English Proficiency
- Standardized test scores (optional) of 28+ ACT or 1300+ SAT
- Applicants must present a history of active engagement in their community through volunteer work, leadership roles, or other forms.
- Prospective Candidates should demonstrate a passion for their chosen field of study, which UST reflects in their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and resumes.

The application consists of a CV with activities and involvements listed and a formal essay written in response to the prompt below:
- Prior to December 1st, students should email their essays and resumes in Word or PDF format with the heading “Simmons Distinguished Scholar Award application” The full name and birthdate of the student should appear on every page of the document.
- Student must deliver a workable file in the appropriate format (Word or PDF); incompatible files (such as Google Docs, Pages, etc.) will not be converted or accepted.
