If you’re interested in science and want to help make the world a better place, here’s a great chance. The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) are offering special grants for Cooperation on Sustainability Science projects.

These projects are all about solving global problems like climate change, clean water, new energy, disease control, and more.

What This Grant Is About
This grant supports teamwork between TWAS scientists and CAS-TWAS Centres of Excellence to solve sustainability problems. You can work on things like:
- Renewable energy from biology
- Protecting the environment and clean water
- Preparing for climate disasters
- Fighting infectious diseases
- Studying space and floods
- Turning CO2 into useful products
You’ll get up to RMB 600,000 for your project. The money can be used for travelling, visiting labs, student exchanges, and even for buying small lab tools (up to 30% of the grant).

Who Can Apply
You can apply if you are:
- A TWAS Member or TWAS Young Affiliate
- Not based in China
- Willing to work with a CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence
- Able to submit a CV and research proposal to one of the contact persons above
There is no age limit, and you don’t need a specific degree to apply.
How to Apply
Follow these steps to apply:
- Choose a Centre of Excellence and send your CV and research proposal to the contact person of that Centre by 14 June 2025.
- The Centre will select the best ideas and researchers.
- If chosen, you will work together to prepare a final application.
- The complete application must be sent by 1 September 2025 to:

After You Get Selected
- CAS will send the money to the Centre of Excellence.
- The Centre will manage the project with you.
- After two years, you and the Centre will submit a report on your work.
