Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the 2026 McCall MacBain Scholarships, applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • You are a current student on track to earn your first bachelor’s degree by August 2026.
  • You have earned your first bachelor’s degree in the last five years (January 2020 or later).
  • You earned your first bachelor’s degree more than five years ago and were 30 years or younger on January 1, 2025.

Additionally, applicants must meet the minimum degree and language requirements for admission to McGill University’s master’s programs.

Benefits of the Scholarship

The McCall MacBain Scholarship covers:

  • Tuition and Fees: Full coverage for the entire duration of the chosen master’s or professional program.
  • Living Stipend: A monthly stipend of $2,300 CAD during academic terms.
  • Relocation Grant: A one-time grant for moving to Montréal.
  • French Language Courses: Access to beginner to advanced French language courses at McGill University.
  • Summer Initiatives: Scholars not pursuing an academic term during the summer may apply for up to $5,000 to fund meaningful summer initiatives.

Eligible Degrees

To apply for the McCall MacBain Scholarship, you must be planning to pursue a full-time master’s or second-entry professional undergraduate program at McGill University starting in Summer/Fall 2026.

The program must be composed of 45 credits or more and take place primarily on McGill’s downtown or Macdonald campuses.

  • MPP (Public Policy)
  • MSc (Science)
  • MScA (Science, Applied)
  • MScAPT (Science, Applied in Physical Therapy)
  • MScAOT (Science, Applied in Occupational Therapy)
  • MSW (Social Work)
  • MUP (Urban Planning)
  • LLM (Law)
  • STM (Sacred Theology)

Please note that graduate certificates, executive master’s programs (EMBA, IMHL, IMPM), PhDs, part-time programs (e.g., GMSCM), and joint degree programs are not covered by the McCall MacBain Scholarships.

Scholarship Awards

  • Canadian Applicants (Including Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and refugees):
    • 20 McCall MacBain Scholarships
    • 30 Finalist Awards of $10,000 CAD
    • 30 Regional Awards of $5,000 CAD, tenable at any public university in Canada
  • International Applicants (Any other citizenship or nationality):
    • 10 McCall MacBain Scholarships
    • 25 Finalist Awards of $20,000 CAD
    • 15 Regional Awards of $10,000 CAD, tenable at any public university in Canada

Application Process

  • To apply, visit the website page here.
  • Scholarship Application: Submit your application for the McCall MacBain Scholarship by the deadline of August 20, 2025. This application is separate from your McGill program application.
  • Program Application: After completing the scholarship application, you will need to apply separately to your chosen master’s or professional program at McGill University by its respective deadline.
  • Interview Process: Up to 30 McCall MacBain Scholarships and 100 finalist and regional awards will be offered to candidates who distinguish themselves in the interview process.

Important Notes

  • Up to 30 McCall MacBain Scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional leadership potential, commitment to making a positive difference, and academic excellence.
  • Finalist and Regional Awards will be given to students who show strong promise but are not selected for the full scholarship.
