About the PAGES African Mobility Fellowship 2025
The PAGES African Mobility Fellowship aims to build research capacity and strengthen cooperation among African scientists working in the field of past global changes.
This fellowship supports international travel between African countries and provides subsistence allowances for the selected candidates.
Fellows will have 2 to 4 weeks to conduct research at a host institution in another African country. The research must be relevant to the themes and objectives of PAGES, such as paleoclimatology, paleoecology, and environmental reconstruction.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the PAGES African Mobility Fellowship 2025, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of an African country.
- Be enrolled in a PhD program or be a postdoctoral researcher (within 5 years of PhD completion).
- Be based at an African institution (university or research center).
- Be involved in research aligned with PAGES’ scientific scope.
- Be willing to carry out research in another African country.
- Have secured approval from a host institution, including a letter of confirmation.
- Plan a visit of at least two weeks and no longer than four weeks within 12 months of the award.
- Be either currently studying or holding a paid position at their home institution.
What the Fellowship Covers
The fellowship includes limited support to cover the following:
- Economy-class airfare
- Accommodation and daily subsistence
- Visa costs
- Research consumables (up to 10% of total budget)
- Fellowship duration of 2–4 weeks

After the Fellowship

- A short article (650 words + 1 figure) to be published in Past Global Changes Magazine
